Q&A With Mason Daughters

+How did you get into racing?
My life since I was a child I always spent my time in my father’s shop working on cars and also watching my father race as a child, I also helped my father when he used to work on Scott Tucker’s ferraris at the various race tracks when I wasn’t in school. I knew one day I wanted to be a driver.

+Goals in racing
I make myself be one of the best all around racers out there, be able to race anything I am given the chance to drive and win.

+What has been the most challenging aspect of your transition from karting to driving cars in the B-mod series?
The biggest change from karting hasn’t been the horsepower, driving sideways on dirt, or just driving a car on the dirt in general. That has all felt pretty natural. The hardest part is adapting to the cars around me and trying to figure out what they are going to do, so I can get by them and get to the front.

+What helps you as a racer that makes you different?
Well my mechanical ability I think is a tremendous help because not only can I drive I understand everything about my race car, suspension, drivetrain, etc. This helps me to be able to work on my own car and also communicate with my crew, coach, and mechanic. Being raised in the shop working on cars and also working on race cars with my father was a huge help.

+How do you handle school, racing, and your teenage years racing full time?
Well school is most important to me as well as my sponsors. I focus on school, racing and also friends. It’s something I have learned to balance. Since I had to make up several years in experience in racing compared to other competitors I’ve had a very busy schedule.
